Barbary Lane’s co-founders David Latina and Randi Gerson
together bring over 45 years of experience developing and
managing housing and senior living communities.

David Latina, CCIM, President
David is the President of Barbary Senior
Communities. Prior to starting Barbary Lane Senior Communities
David was Vice President of Development at A.F. Evans Company
and was responsible for business development and overseeing
the development of multi-family rental communities, market-rate
condominium developments and ancillary commercial retail
development throughout California and Nevada.
Prior to joining A.F. Evans, David served
as Director of Housing Development for Mercy Housing California
where he was responsible for overseeing the development
of 49 affordable multi-family projects with over 4,000 affordable
housing units and 271,000 square feet of commercial/retail
space throughout California. His experience also includes
leasing and sales, adaptive re-use of industrial and retail
properties and commercial district renovations.
David earned a Master's degree in Real Estate
Development from Columbia University's School of Architecture,
Planning and Preservation. David has a long history of non-profit
volunteer community work including the San Francisco AIDS
Foundation;, A Better Way Foster and Child Services; the
San Francisco Community Center and UCSF's 360 Positive Care
Clinic where he now serves as Chair of the Advisory Board.
Randi Gerson, MA, Principal
Randi is managing the East Bay's largest housing development
project in Oakland's new Uptown District for Forest City
Development. Randi is responsible for overseeing all of
the design and construction management of this 665 unit
complex with 9,000 square feet of retail and a public park.
Prior to Forest City, Randi was with Toll Brothers where
she was responsible for several multi-million dollar housing
developments and with Mercy Housing California she served
as Senior Housing Development Manager. Randi was also Associate
Principle and Project Architect at Asian Neighborhood Design.
Randi brings to Barbary Lane over 20 years of multi-family
rental and senior housing experience as an architect, construction
manager and housing developer.
Micki Cianciosi, Vice President of Operations
Micki Cianciosi, Vice President of Operations for BLC,
has served as the Regional Director of Sales and Marketing
for Summerville Assisted Living, considered one of the nation’s
top operators of high quality senior residential and assisted
living care facilities. She is the founder of the San Francisco-based
sales and marketing consulting firm, Sales N Progress, and
has provided services to companies in the areas of home
health care, program management, and systems development.
Her experience also includes a key leadership position at
Aegis Assisted Living in Fremont, serving as Executive Director
for the Fremont start up.
Micki's educational background includes graduate studies
in Health Services Administration at St. Mary’s College
and a BS degree in Organizational Behavior. For her community
service work, Micki was awarded a Certificate of Honor for
Merit and Distinction from the San Francisco Board of Supervisors
for her work with the campaign for domestic partner benefits
in San Francisco. As Vice President of Operations, Micki
will lead the growth of the management company over the
next five years and will oversee the property management
and resident services for five proposed Barbary Lane Senior
Communities.
Commitment to the LGBT Community
Dave Latina and Randi Gerson have a long-standing commitment
to the LGBT community in the Bay Area. They led the development
of San Francisco's LGBT Community Center as co-chairs of
the Building Committee. The duo saw the project through,
from its very early bricks and mortar beginning to its ultimate
realization. Later Gerson became co-chair of the Board of
Directors. The Community Center project, which began in
1996 and opened its doors in 2002 as a 40,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art
facility, is considered the first LGBT Center built from
the ground up and is among the largest in the world.
