Mayor Dellums LGBT Inaugural Party
January 13, 2007
For the first time in Oakland’s history the LGBT community hosted a gala celebration and reception as part of the official “Inaugural Program of Events” for the incoming mayor of the City, Ronald V. Dellums. Over 450 members of the LGBT community were out in force on Saturday, January 13, 2007 as klieg lights swept the sky. The event, sponsored in part by Barbary Lane Communities and held at the Lake Merritt Hotel, recognized the significant place the LGBT community holds in the city of Oakland, providing invaluable political, professional, financial and cultural leadership. Performers included the Montclair Women’s Big Band, Ellen Seeling, Director; Vocalist Vicki Randle, Tonight Show Band; Guest vocalist Lonnie Tuck; DJ Page Hodel; sponsorship and hors d’oeuvres courtesy of the Barbary Lane Community at Lake Merritt. The event was produced by Barbara Price and Peggy Moore.
